Green is Good

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to me fellow MLBloggers. Mr. O’Guru has a favorite color today and here are some goodies I found in Aisle 7:

JorgeingreencapThe very same green Mexico Authentic 2006 World Baseball Classic Fitted Alternate Cap that MLBlogs’ own Jorge Cantu is modeling in the picture at right. Even Fernando Valenzuela modeled one in the blog.

2006 Upper Deck Series 1 set. That’s Derek Jeter trotting around the bases on the foil jacket. What’s inside? Ah, that is the great mystery that has made us love trading cards forever. The Guru is old enough to remember what it sounded like to put a trading card in the spokes of your bike.

Barry Zito BP Jersey. This jersey carefully combines a micro-denier
polyester waffle-knit design with reinforced seams, vented mesh panels,
and underarm gussets for added breathability. Besides, 75 is one of the Guru’s favorite baseball numbers. You never have to retire it.

GrassKellia reminds me about the green grass on a baseball field, and indeed it is the biggest reason of all that we celebrate baseball’s primary color. To that end, I saved the best for last in this story posted today on MLB.com.

Bid at the MLB.com Auction on Scott Podsednik?s game-worn, autographed Half-Way to St. Patrick’s Day Uniform worn on September 9, 2005. Proceeds from the auction benefit Chicago White Sox Charities, which
supports hundreds of Chicago-based organizations including those
leading the fight against cancer or dedicated to improving the lives of
Chicago’s youth through education and athletics.

Mr. O’Guru has just learned that Nick Green tripled and scored today. One word: customize.

It was impossible to list one of the following without the other:

New York Yankees Irish Pride T-Shirt by Lee Sport.

Boston Red Sox Irish Pride T-Shirt by Lee Sport.

(Wee willowy lads and lassies, that’s a 1900 boxing match just waiting to happen.)

St. Patrick’s Day Hooley Adjustable Caps. Pick your favorite team, but you would have to print it out and tape it onto your hair to be able to wear it today. Sorry, the Guru was busy following the World Baseball Classic, Spring Training and his beloved Hoosiers in the Big Dance or he would have suggested this last week!

There’s plenty more at the MLB.com Shop for the green in you.
